Distraction burglaries are becoming more frequent in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough at the moment. Whittlesey is no exception and there have been burglaries in our area recently. Our local police have already carried out a patrol of the area and more are planned.
Here are some recent incidents:
- The victim allowed a potential buyer to enter the address and use her toilet, the potential buyer left the victims home and the victim had realised there was £60 missing.
- An attempted burglary during which a person tried to gain entry to a building using tools. Entry was not gained.
- Four suspects offered to cut the victims tree’s and victim believes one of them has stolen £800 from the address as part of a distraction burglary.
- Another distraction burglary occurred on Victory Avenue. The victim was distracted by a male at the front door saying the guttering was leaking, upon returning indoors the victim realised money and belongings had been taken.
